Welcome to HotelGuide.Networks' directory of hotels and hotel reviews for Cape Girardeau, Missouri!

Cape Girardeau -- home of Southeast Missouri State University and hometown of conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh -- fascinates with historical charm about 110 miles south of St. Louis, having played roles in the Lewis and Clark Expedition, Trail of Tears, and the Civil War. In 1908, the Missouri State Flag was designed and stitched in Cape Girardeau. The Cape River Heritage Museum brims with background on such events as well as the role in city growth played by the Mississippi River. Old-fashioned riverboats still dock along the riverfront, including the Delta Queen Steamboat Company's American, Mississippi and Delta Queens. River Barge Excursions' River Explorer also calls in spring and summer. Downtown, alongside the river, has been designated part of the Missouri Main Street program, with highlights including eclectic shops, restaurants, pubs, and art galleries. Seven outdoor murals, ranging from the expansive "Missouri Wall of Fame" to the colorful "Heritage of Music," are also downtown.

National Historic Register sites include the restored Glenn House, a true jewel of the city depicting life around 1900, and the circa 1853 St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Historic treasures aside, Cape Girardeau's modern amenities include more than 120 restaurants and a 7,000-seat arena. Family activities include a 14-screen movie theater, water slide, go-karts, ice skating rink, and reptile zoo. Other attractions include the Southeast Missouri State University Museum on campus, presenting monthly exhibits and permanent displays such as the Beckwith Collection, one of the finest collections of Mississippian artifacts, including bowls, water bottles, and vessels from the Beckwith plantation near Charleston, Mo. Red House Interpretive Center commemorates the visit of Merriwether Lewis and William Clark in 1803. Cape Girardeau lodging options, just under 1,000 rooms in all, range from historic bed and breakfast inns to motels and hotels.
